Is Pendulum Changing?
Pendulum Theatre Company. All rights reserved
There’s been a lot of talk recently surrounding Pendulum’s mission.  Is
Pendulum anti-this or anti-that?  How does the faith of Pendulum’s
Artistic Director affect the company’s business decisions?  What is this
company really about?  We thought we would take a few moments to
address these questions and share with you our vision for Pendulum’s
future.

Our main reason for starting this company was to allow Christ to be a
blessing to the artists He has created as well as the audience members
that walk through our door.  Our intent was not to establish a religious
organization, nor do we feel called to perform only gospel-based works
or exclusively work with like-minded believers.  Pendulum is not a
“drama ministry”.  It is not about exclusivity.  It is not a place of
judgment.

The Bible teaches that every human being, regardless of color, age,
religion, nationality, social status, gender, or sexual orientation is
beloved by Christ Jesus, worth dying for, and filled with immeasurable
worth.  Our goal is to create an ensemble-based theatre company that
reflects that belief by blessing all people through what we do, regardless
of whether they share our beliefs or not.

Our original objective was to use our faith and Bible-based beliefs as an
operating principle in which to guide our business decisions.  After
much consideration, we’ve decided to take it a step further in order to
clarify our intent.  As a result, we’ve decided to slightly modify our
mission statement to better reflect our hope: To allow Christ to be a
blessing to all people by producing living art that explores the
complexities of human nature and relationships, cultivating lifelong
theatre enthusiasts, and providing a nurturing and stable environment
where professional theatre artists can explore their craft and thrive in
their art.

Pendulum has always been an inviting and safe place, where all people
are welcome, and that will never change.  We have always made every
effort to love each individual with the intense, passionate love that
Christ has for them.  We hope you will be as blessed by our company as
we are blessed in creating it for you.  Our door is open…

God bless,
Karla Reck (Artistic Director) and Corissa White (Artistic Associate)
